"How much does a photographer cost?" is usually the first question people ask, and the honest answer is that it depends on the type of session, how long it takes, and how many finished images you receive. Prices vary a lot between photographers, so rather than guess at averages, here are our actual prices in Dover and what affects the cost anywhere you book.
What affects the price of a photographer
- Session length. A 30-minute mini session costs less than a three-hour event.
- Number of edited images. Each delivered photo is selected and retouched by hand, which takes time after the session.
- Retouching level. Light colour correction costs less than detailed skin, wardrobe and background work.
- Location and travel. Studio sessions avoid travel; locations far from the studio may add a fee.
- Outfit and backdrop changes, and the number of people photographed.
- Usage. Personal photos and commercial photos used in advertising are often priced differently.
Headshot prices
Headshots are priced by the number of retouched images and how much time and variety you need.

- Outdoor Silver: $230 · 90 minutes. On-location session, shortest format.
- Outdoor Gold: $250 · 120 minutes. On-location session with more time and coverage.
- Outdoor Premium: $300 · 150 minutes. The fullest on-location session.
- Newborn or Kids: $250 · 90 minutes. Studio session for newborns and children.
- Cake Smash: $275 · 90 minutes. A fun and colourful birthday experience designed to capture your child's personality and milestone celebration.
- Birthday: $300 · 120 minutes. Studio birthday session with a large print included.
- Maternity: $400 · 180 minutes. The most complete studio session, with prints included.

Event photography prices
Events are priced by the hours of coverage.
- Private Party: $650 · Up to 3 hours. Birthdays, dinner parties, bridal showers, engagement celebrations, family gatherings, retirement parties, and other private celebrations.
- Event Photography: $800 · Up to 4 hours. Corporate events, grand openings, conferences, networking events, graduations, anniversaries, baby showers, and community celebrations.

How much does a wedding photographer cost?
Weddings vary more than any other session: the number of hours, the number of locations, a second photographer, engagement photos and video all change the price. Cheap versus professional: what the difference buys
A lower price is not always a better deal. Before booking any photographer, check:
- Do they show full galleries, not just one or two favourite images?
- How many edited photos will you receive, and by when?
- Is retouching included or charged extra per photo?
- Do you get a private gallery and the right to print and share your images?
- Are they reviewed by real clients on Google?
